About Us

CreativeCave is a Design Thinking Studio for school age kids. From illustrative design to animatronics of the future, CreativeCave offers classes that empower kids to prototype their imaginative ideas.

  • CreativeCave is a fun, safe and supportive place where kids can go to develop their full creative potential through the mix of art, technology and project based learning.
  • We offer classes and workshops designed for kids who love art and design, including, animation, character development, stop motion, digital illustration, fashion, robotics, coding and art.
  • Our program provide an environment for invention and innovation: a space to create, collaborate, explore, test, experiment, and invent. Creativity is the spark of innovation!
  • CreativeCave encourages creative opportunities by providing a collaborative space, tools, assistance, and many layers of support for each of the student projects and ideas.
  • Through our Design thinking methodology students will dream about possibilities, find creative solutions and solve complex problems through creativity and design.

OUR CREATIVE CAVE

Mimia

Mimia is an award-winning creative director, professor and speaker with over 15 years' experience creating visual stories, cinematography and characters at Pixar Animation Studios, Tippett Studio, and beyond.

Mimia's Pixar credits include Up, Toy Story 3, Toy Story of Terror, Monsters University, Toy Story That Time Forgot, Inside Out, Good Dinosaur, Finding Dory, Incredibles, and Coco, beside other films and TV shows currently in development.

Alongside her cinematography work, Mimia is dedicated to teaching and empowering future generations to craft and tell stories through art and technology. She is a professor and mentor to aspiring designers and animators at Academy of Art University.

Combining her experience as an artist, creator and educator she envisioned a studio to share, collaborate and teach kids in her community.

That vision became a reality when her studio, CreativeCave was born as an innovation and design thinking project at the Stanford Graduate school of Business. A project to empower young students to become creators, inventors and provide them with a hands-on and interactive experience to develop their unique creativity power.

ART

Our art courses are design for kids who love art and technology. By meshing technology and traditional artistic processes we are creating the art of the future.

Students are introduced to a range of digital tools as well as 2D and 3D mediums and techniques which will expand their visual language and skills, giving them the tools to express their own ideas imaginatively. With our small class sizes, 6 to 1 student to teach ratio, students have maximum individual attention within a classroom setting.

FASHION

In this program your child will learn the fundamentals of fashion design from start to finish! Students will learn how to ideate, sketch, prototype sew and embellish their own wearable products. Kids will learn and overcome the challenges associated with converting a 2D sketch to a fully functional 3D garment as they translate their own idea into a stylish design.

Our program will walk you through all the necessary steps to define a collection, including choosing the fabrics, creating the patterns, pinning, cutting, hand and machine sewing and much more!

*Our classes are kept small (6:1), which allow us to get to know all the children well, as well as provide maximum individual attention needed to foster creative thought, and problem solving skills.

TECHNOLOGY

Our curriculum give students the freedom to foster their own unique interests, building independent thinking and creative problem solving skills.

By meshing technology, design thinking, engineering, art and teamwork, kids will develop the mindset and the skillset to be their best selves and engage meaningfully and purposefully in their future careers.

CreativeCave combine technology and traditional artistic processes to create the art of the future.

DESIGN

In this program your child will learn the necessary tools and skills to create their own stories, develop characters, animate them to produce their own graphics, clips, shorts or video games. Students will develop their storytelling craft through lessons in acting, storyboarding, character design, animation and much more.

*Our classes are kept small (6:1), which allow us to get to know all the children well, as well as provide maximum individual attention needed to foster creative thought, and problem solving skills.
